Developing and deploying aquaculture genomics technologies to scale sustainable production of high-value species.

BluGen is currently building South Korea’s first RAS facility to sustainably produce olive flounder, one of East Asia’s most loved fish.

Introducing Dr Woo-Jai Lee

CEO and Founder of BluGen

Woo-Jai spent thirty years in aquaculture. In Scandinavia, as Director of R&D in Genomics for GenoMar, he initiated breeding programs for Marine Harvest (OTCMKTS: MHGVY) and Salmar AS (OTCMKTS: SALRY). An expert in aquaculture value-chain, he has served as advisor to the Korean Ministry of Ocean and Fishery since 2001 and has received the Korean Presidential Citation for his contribution to the aquaculture industry.

Genomics: the first step towards sustainability.

Not GMO, but genomics study towards precision breeding.

A scientific field born from Gregor Mendel—for centuries, farmers have been in constant search for ideal seedstocks from which to grow agricultural products. Through decades of study and application, we’ve improved upon flavor, resistance to climate conditions, sustainability and economic viability of farmed goods.

Aquaculture is the next major frontier.

BluGen is world-class in aquaculture genomics. And the first and only company to have developed a successful genomics-level breeding program for olive flounder.
