  • Woo-Jai Lee, PhD

    CEO & FOUNDER

    WJ earned his PhD & Post-doc in animal genetics from the University of New Hampshire. During his tenure as Director of R&D at GenoMar AS, he focused on genomics research for running the best breeding programs to achieve economic sustainability in aquaculture. And previously as Senior Scientist, he ran the molecular lab for construction of genetic maps of major farmed species, including tilapia, salmon, Atlantic cod, halibut, and sea bass. In 2013, he founded BluGen to R&D genomics and breeding programs. Under his leadership, BluGen has worked in various R&D projects with the Korean government and Scandinavian private companies.

  • Dong Beom Kim, PhD

    CTO

    Dong Beom (David) earned his PhD & Post-doc in oceanography at Old Dominion University. Abroad, he studied the distribution and behavior of radionuclides deposited in sediments at Chesapeake Bay, Virginia. In Korea, Dong Beom worked at the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology as senior researcher, investigating the circulation of toxic chemicals in the Yellow Sea. He also worked at Environmental Science & Technology, building a database for marine ecosystems in Korea. He is a member of the Korea Engineering & Consulting Association and has an engineering license in the marine industry.

  • Jong Soo Kim, MS

    Interim COO

    Jong Soo (Peter) earned his MS in electrical engineering from University of Washington. He worked for the National Information Service of the South Korean government, and during his tenure, he served six years as a diplomat at the Korean Consulate General in San Francisco. As consul, he helped Korean tech start-ups gain footing in Silicon Valley and facilitated trade and economic relations. After retiring as Deputy Director of Economics at NIS, Peter graduated from Seoul National University’s Bio-CEO program. He is a successful venture investor under his JSK Ventures and helps growth-stage companies all the way to exit.
